The Basic Bag
Here is a quick list of items that are mandatory to have in your basic bag:
Emergency rations
-You'll need enough of these to get you through at LEAST one day. I recommend a bag of trail mix or a handful of protein bars. These will last you a day or two at least.
Signaling Device
-This can be something as simple as a mirror or as advanced as a GPS locator. If you use a mirror, make sure to tape the back and edges to prevent breaking and if you use a GPS make sure to have spare batteries on hand.
Candles/chemlights
-If you're going to be out at night, you'll need to make sure you can see what you're doing! I recommend the chemlights, as they will last longer, store better, and you don't have to worry about using fire to get it going, plus they won't go out when the wind blows.
